Hobbies

I like hiking therefore the thing that I miss most here in Prague are proper mountains. There are some in Czech republic but they are not in the vicinity of the capital city and there is no such place like Orlia Prť, Tatras , Fatras ...
Nevertheless, Prague has other things to offer. There is a nice network of cycling roads around the city and plenty of affordable drill-halls and playgrounds for different activities. Of course all kinds of culture events as well.
I have one particular hobby that is very popular in Czech republic, especially in Prague. It’s puzzle-hunting. Basically a team of up to five people is solving riddles, ciphers or puzzles where every solution leads to another puzzle. These tournaments usually start on the Friday or Saturday evening and end at the noon of the next day. During this time, can a good team solve more than fifteen puzzles and cover a distance of more than twenty kilometers. The most popular one is called Tmou. Only the best 220 teams from the online qualification can compete in it. It has a seventeen years of history and even its own anthem.
Other hobby, that I am quite fond of is mushroom hunting. This may sound bizarre to a foreigner but picking mushrooms is a very important part of culture and traditions in most slavic countries.
Last but in no way least is reading and also, from time to time, writing. If you understand slovak, you can enjoy some of my short stories at the pages of Archipel Druz.
